Mr Brown is my fragrant depiction of Guerlain’s L’Instant de Guerlain EDT. A warm and cosy woody fragrance from 2004 with a unique combination of cacao, star anise, jasmine, and tea. Wears like a lazy afternoon on Saturday in spring.
The year is 2004. It’s a sunny spring afternoon on Saturday and a man by the name of Mr Brown is heading out for hot chocolate with his friend, Beatrice.
Mr Brown is a smart casual kind of guy with a warm temperament and a relaxed outlook on life. Today, he’s wearing a trendy brown chore jacket, with a black jumper underneath, and a pair of jeans. His hair, neatly cropped and brushed to one side.
He walks casually to meet his friend, a gentle breeze nudging him along. They’ve agreed to meet at L’Instant: a chic French cafe known for its sweet treats, which has quickly become their favourite haunt.
As Mr Brown steps inside in the cafe, a smell of lemon and anise hits his nose. The cafe has just baked some aniseed biscuits and garnished them with lemon, and the aroma couldn’t be more inviting.
Beatrice is already seated and waves to him from a table; her kind smile drawing him in and inviting conversation. He takes a seat and asks her how she is. Beatrice is one of his oldest friends, and the two have done Saturday socials for years.
L’Instant is known for its hot chocolates and serves a diverse array of them. Mr Brown orders a hibiscus hot chocolate, whilst Beatrice opts for one infused with tea and jasmine. As their hot chocolates arrive, a warm woosh of cocoa fills the air, intertwined with notes of smoky tea and soft, floral hibiscus.
They sip their hot chocolates lovingly and relax back in their chairs. A calming patchouli and sandalwood diffuser wafting in the corner of the room, and adding the finishing touches to this blissful Saturday afternoon
