Meet Mr Dandy

By Anton Constantinou

The story of Mr Dandy centres on Histoires de Parfums' 1725. A seriously upscale aromatic fougere with gourmand facets of licorice, star anise, almond and vanilla. Released in 2001 and inspired by the life and times of Venetian master seducer Giacomo Casanova.

The year is 2001. Location: Venice. A frenchman by the name of Mr Dandy is visiting Venice on holiday, soaking up the grandeur of Italy’s wondrous City of Canals.

It’s a cold winter’s day and the city’s bakeries are in full swing. Mr Dandy is dressed to impress in a beautiful lavender shade jumper and is indulging in something sweet, his head buried in a book - the life and times of Giacomo Casanova. A venice legend and master seducer who Mr Dandy styles himself on.

Like Casanova, Mr Dandy has a sweet charm that captivates others. A warm, grown-up sort of sweetness that’s soft and licorice-like. A charm that serves him well in close encounters.

Mr Dandy has a coffee before him and some almond biscuits. The coffee is frothy and the biscuits are marzipan-filled and dusted with icing sugar.

A woman locks eyes with Mr Dandy from across the room. She knows he’s wealthy from his dress sense and his classiness is unmistakable. Mr Dandy looks back at her and smiles. His warm glow enveloping the space around them and drawing her closer. Mr Dandy may not be Casanova but he’s every bit as charming.
