Mr Golden is my fragrant personification of Milano Cento: a woody aromatic scent from 2016 that wears like the last days of summer. With dominant notes of lavender, cinammom and clove, it’s both warm and fresh and strikes the curious balance of being both summer and winter appropriate.
The year is 2016. Location: Milan, Italy. It's early September in Milan and summer is drawing to a close. Soaking up the last of the rays is Mr Golden: a masculine, 50-something man with a classic look and rugged charm.
He sits at a restaurant in one of Milan’s city squares, watching the world go by, the afternoon sun warming his face. He wears an open blue linen shirt and chinos and has a timeless look about him. A simple elegance, neither new nor old but timeless.
Mr Golden has a sharpness to his character. A piqant wit that’s equal parts hot and piercing, spicy and citric, brash and fresh.
Spend a little time with him and that brashness soon gives way to something deep and earthy. A lingering clove-like warmth that soothes and comforts like a father’s hug. His oily, aromatic skin an extension of his smooth, sweet-scented personality.
The sun is starting to set in Milan, its final rays glistening gently. Mr Golden, his temperament a reflection of the setting sun, has a mellow look on his face. A softened amber glow that let’s you know summer is over and autumn is on the way.
