Mr Gravitas is the living embodiment of Gravitas Pour Homme: an aromatic fougere from legendary YouTube fragrance reviewer, Dan Naughton (AKA MrSmelly1977). In his first fragrance release to date, Dan gives us a distinctly gentlemanly fragrance that calls to mind the English countryside and all things dignified.
The year is 2020. Location: Cheltenham, UK. In a world untouched by coronavirus lives a serious and solemn man by the name of Mr Gravitas. A musician and art enthusiast, collector of antiques and objet d'art. Occupier of a sumptuous Victorian townhouse, rich in Baroque style furnishings: sculptures, etchings, a gilded frame here, a console table there. A mood of grandeur about the place.
Real name, Albert, Mr Gravitas lives something of a solitary existence and likes it that way. Tucked away in the Cotswold Hills, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.
At his bedside is a lavender and bergamot diffuser. Its floral sharpness typical of the English countryside and reflecting Albert's old school, all-English charm. A traditional sort, Albert shaves most mornings and whiles away the hours outdoors, shooting game and gallivanting around in wellingtons. A smell of mossy dirt filling the air and clinging to the underside of his boots.
Albert’s pride and joy is a racing green Jaguar XJ Sport, which he drives most afternoons and looks after with meticulous care. A timeless motor handed down to him by his late father and encapsulating his fondness for classical craftsmanship.
Evenings in the Gravitas household are a largely civilised affair and consist chiefly of fine wine and classical music by the fireplace. To unwind, Albert burns a scented candle, its vanillic sweetness enveloping the room and radiating subtle warmth.
For a man of great opulence, Albert couldn’t be more down to earth and wears his wealth with tremendous grace. A subtly scarcely seen in gentleman of the modern age. Never flashy, never brash. Simply charming is Gravitas.
