Meet Mr London

Mr London is my fictional personification of Burberry London for Men: an amber spicy fragrance from 2006 with cosy notes of sweet tobacco, fruity wine and spicy cinnamon. A festive fragrance, often compared to Christmas, with a distinctly winter vibe to it.

The year is 2006. It’s a cold winter’s day in London and a man called Antoine is out shopping with his wife on the King’s Road (in Chelsea). The air is foggy, the sky is gloomy and festive smells are all around.

Antoine is a charming, young, metropolitan type. Dashing, well-educated, reasonably well paid, today sporting an elegant brown scarf and matching overcoat. A man of modest character, he is neither the centre of attention nor the quietest man in the room, with a moderate temperament that hums along like the London underground beneath his feet.

The King’s Road, much like Antoine’s personality, is alive with warmth this winter and features all of the familiar aromas that you’d expect at this time of year. Soft potpourri spices, sweet tobacco on the breeze, boozy wafts from its various wine bars, a smell of pine needles from its neighbouring parks and gardens.

Of all the seasons, winter is easily Antoine's favourite time of year. A lover of cool temperatures and cosy interactions, Antoine lives for the cold snap of winter and the activities it brings with it like burning incense sticks, sipping port by an open fire, or indulging in dried fruit delicacies.

Mix all these sensations together and you get a warm and inviting man who’s a delight to be around in winter. A man whose spicy green festive embrace just might have you thinking it’s Christmas again.
